I have time to read a book for the first time in awhile. I had started The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler a couple of weeks back but it didn't hold me.
I went to my pile of unread books. I thought I was going to go for a novel but instead grabbed Cells to Civilizations: The Principles of Change That Shape Life. It's a hard copy - retro, right? The first two paragraphs are full of promise. The book hits hard fast with information.
I've been reading books about how things change for decades, whether in terms of social movements, evolutionary biology, personal transformation, or systems change. In my twenties I read a book called How People Change, a slim volume. At one point, the book referred to some situations calling for trying "harder" and others calling for trying "differently." I was young and had never before considered the difference.
